Justin Bieber Breaks Silence on "Gossip" and "Lies" About Him and Hailey Bieber

Justin Bieber and his family are in mourning.

The "Sorry" singer announced on social media that his grandfather Bruce Dale has died. He was 80.

Bruce, who was dad to Justin's mother Pattie Mallette passed away "peacefully" in their hometown of Stratford, Ontario, April 24, according to an obituary published by a funeral home in the same town. After his grandfather’s passing, Justin penned an emotional tribute to Bruce, who he called "Papa."

"I always took all ur money lol. I remember u specifically telling me, gramma gave u an allowance of 20 dollars for the WEEK!" he wrote on Instagram April 26 alongside a photo of himself holding Bruce's head in his hands taken just before the release of his first EP My World. "I would always convince you to spend on snacks at the hockey game on Friday nights. Reluctantly you always gave it to me. Corn nuts, skittles, gum balls, chuck a puck, slush puppies, Shout out to the jr b referees Beatty, Fagon, Flanagan lmfao."

"For enduring all of my grandpas heckling for all of your horrible referee calls lmfao, my grandpa wasn’t shy in letting them know that they were being pieces of s--ts," Justin continued. "I can’t wait to see u again soon in heaven."

The 31-year-old went on to express how he'll remember his grandpa—who also shared children Candie Toper, Chris Mallette, Chris Dale with wife Diane Dale—and how much he'll miss having him in his life.

Justin's loss comes amid speculation about his personal life, which he and wife Hailey Bieber—who share son Jack Blues Bieber, 8 months—have consistently shut down on social media.

Most recently, the "Peaches" hitmaker shut down rumors that he's moving out of Los Angeles following an incident where he was swarmed by paparazzi.

"Everyone telling me to move from La,” Justin wrote on his Instagram Story April 24. “U think I’m gonna get bullied to leave where my influence is most needed? How can we make a change if we run away from the darkness? I too have been caught up in the transactional nature of Hollywood."

He also reflected on why he tended to get so emotional when discussing Justin's accomplishments.

"I don't know," he explained in a 2018 interview at the Stratford Perth Museum. "It just happens. I can sit and talk with anybody about anything, but when it comes to talking about him, I just get emotional."

“It’s embarrassing but with that said, I want nothing to do with that as a grown adult with a wife and son,” he added. “I just want to be submerged in the culture learning from any and everyone. And be proponent and advocate for LOVE AND EQUALITY.”
