Jrue Holiday sends message to Celtics fans after trade

The Boston Celtics have made some big moves already this offseason, but they haven’t been all that surprising. While their moves were expected, it doesn’t make departing any easier for players who won a title in Boston just 12 months ago.

Of course, Jrue Holiday was the first big name to be involved in a Celtics trade this offseason, with the team sending him to Portland in exchange for Anfernee Simons and picks. While Holiday won’t be on the team next season and was only around for a couple of years, Holiday’s legacy in Boston won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

In 2024, Holiday averaged 13.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists while starting all 19 games in the Celtics’ run to an NBA title. In that postseason run, Holiday also shot 40.2% from 3-point range and added 1.1 steals per game.

After being traded, Holiday posted a message to Celtics fans on his Instagram story, simply saying, “Thank you, Boston.”

His time with the Celtics will be remembered for quite some time, as he was the point guard for one of the most dominant playoff teams in league history. Boston went 16-3 and never had a series go more than five games during that championship run.

Although the Celtics and Holiday took a step back last season, the point guard still has some gas left in the tank as he heads to the Trail Blazers to be a veteran presence on an up-and-coming team.
