The Brooklyn Nets have relied on Michael Porter Jr. to be their best player this season. However, he is currently sidelined with a sprained ankle.
Ahead of the Nets' game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, Brooklyn's head coach Jordi Fernandez gave the latest update on his star player's status.

Porter has been a superb player during the 2025-26 season. Most people know him for being the third option with the Denver Nuggets in previous seasons. Nowadays, he has carved out a path for himself, as he is the Nets' best player.
Brooklyn does not have the best team in the Eastern Conference, but they are competitive, with Porter standing out. Unfortunately, the Nets have been missing his contributions to the team's offense.

Now, Porter looks ready to come back soon. However, he is doing his best to recover from his sprained ankle, which Fernandez spoke about before Monday's loss to Portland.
"He did form shooting (before) the last game that we played, and today is going to be his first workout. So let’s see how he feels after it’s getting better, and then we’ll assess," Fernandez said to the media before playing against Portland.
As the Nets continue to head into the end of the season, they would prefer that Porter play games. He might get a move to another team in the offseason, but in the meantime, the Nets fans want to see him playing.
