"If you think about it, I've never held a job in my life. I went from being an NFL player to a coach to a broadcaster. I haven't worked a day in my life." - John Madden
Few people have loved the game of football as much as John Madden, and he did it all. As his famous quote says, he was a player in the NFL, a coach, and a broadcaster. There was not much more he could have done or more of an impact he could have made on the game.
Madden has long been enshrined in the NFL's Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, with his 2006 induction and in a tribute in the title of the Madden video game franchise since 1989.
Now, the legendary broadcaster will be paid tribute on the big screen, or technically, the small screen. Amazon announced that it is making a movie about Madden that will follow his career as a head coach, the creation of his video game and his transition into the broadcast booth.

Here is more information on what we know about Amazon's upcoming 'Madden' movie.
What is the John Madden movie?
Amazon is making a movie about the late, great Madden. The movie reportedly will follow the iconic head coach from his Super Bowl win with the Raiders through the creation of the 'Madden' video game franchise and his development into being one of the most recognizable voices in sports.

Production is currently underway, but director David O. Russell and Amazon have not given a projected release date. While it would make sense for the movie to come out around Thanksgiving, that would be a quick turnaround for filming and editing.
'Madden' cast
Here is who has been confirmed in the 'Madden' movie and their roles.
- Nicolas Cage -- John Madden
- Christian Bale -- Al Davis
- John Mulaney -- Trip Hawkins (the founder of Electronic Arts, a.k.a. EA)
- Kathryn Hahn -- Virginia Madden
- Sienna Miller -- Carol Davis
When will 'Madden' be released?
The post from Amazon MGM Studios on May 14 was the first bit of news we had gotten for the film. It says that production is underway, but there is no mention of a release date. You'd think that Amazon would want to release the film during football season, with Thanksgiving making entirely too much sense from how much Madden took over the holiday with his infamous Turducken.
