John Harbaugh's contract with Giants puts him among NFL's highest-paid coaches

In the end, John Harbaugh didn't go to his other interviews.

He visited the New York Giants on Wednesday and was slated to talk to the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons this week, too.

But by about midnight, as Wednesday turned to Thursday, the reports emerged that Harbaugh had taken the Giants' head coaching job. Those other teams would have to look elsewhere.

Surely, there were many factors, but a big contract couldn't have hurt.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz shared details on Thursday morning on X:

That will put Harbaugh among the NFL's highest-paid coaches.

Who are the NFL's highest-paid coaches?

If Harbaugh's contract is for $100 million over five years, as Schultz reports, he's right at the top of the list with Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.

Before Harbaugh's deal, Reid topped the list by himself at $20 million per year.

The Denver Broncos are paying Sean Payton $18 million per year.

Before his stepping down, Mike Tomlin was earning $16 million per year from the Steelers.

Jim Harbaugh is at $16 million per year from the Chargers.

Sean McVay (Rams) and Nick Sirianni (Eagles) are both $15 million per season.

Kyle Shanahan (49ers) and Mike Vrabel (Patriots) both get $14 million per season.

And the Bears' Ben Johnson and Vikings' Kevin O'Connell both are at $13 million per year.
