John Cena bid an adieu to the business that made him at last week's Saturday Night's Main Event 2025 in an overwhelmingly emotional moment. While it remains to be seen when The Leader of Cenation pops up in WWE again, he has been announced to appear at the upcoming MegaCon event on March 26 next year.
Cena lost to Gunther in an incredible back-and-forth contest that also served as a great passing of the torch moment as the former finally let go of his never-say-never attitude and tapped out. The Washington crowd and those watching from homes were shocked at the turn of events and even rained down heavy boos.
However, the jeers soon turned into tears as the whole locker room came out and gave a dignified send-off to one of the greats. Though he's likely to make more WWE appearances down the line, nothing is lined up for the near future. That said, fans would get to see John Cena at MegaCon on March 26th next year in Orlando.
The official announcement was made recently on Instagram, with tickets for the event going live on December 17th. Check it out below:
John Cena's father was disappointed with how his son's match ended at SNME 2025
Cena's father has been quite vocal regarding how his son's retirement tour has panned out. He has now spoken about the match at SNME 2025 during a chat with legendary journalist Bill Apter. John Cena Sr. stated that the ideal finish would have been a referee stoppage rather than the WWE megastar tapping out.
"I'm not sure that's a tapout. I wonder if it's the last effort to try to break that hold. That would have been a good deal right there. And then, Gunther would have clutched it even more, and Cena would have blacked out. Period. Without a tapout. So Gunther would have still been the winner by default because Cena couldn't answer the ten-count. It would have been better to go that way than I think the way it kind of went."Irrespective of the criticisms, there's no doubt that Gunther's stock has further risen now, and he's arguably the most hated heel in all of WWE currently.
