WWE star John Cena is edging closer towards retirement with only four dates left on his retirement tour. The 17-time WWE World Champion is set to wrestle his last match at next month's Saturday Night's Main Event, and fans are speculating who his final opponent could be.

Amidst all the speculation, two AEW megastars have also been named to face John Cena in his final match. The All Elite promotion has quite a few former WWE stars on its roster, some of whom have a long and storied history with Cena. However, the two men who were pitched for the match are Chris Jericho and Adam Copeland, fka Edge.

Cena's father was speaking in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, where he mentioned the former WWE stars. John Cena Sr. stated that he'd love to see either Chris Jericho or Adam Copeland take on his son for one last time before he hangs up his boots.

"I mean, I'd love to see Adam Copeland in there with John. That would be a great finish. Jericho is another guy that I could think that might be in there with Cena, but the way it's going, take the coin and throw it in the air, and let's see which football team gets the first ball. Yeah." John Cena Sr. said.

Both Jericho and Copeland spent the majority of their careers in WWE, and they have been linked to a return to the promotion lately. Copeland is one of John Cena's most famous rivals and is the only iconic one he hasn't wrestled on his retirement tour. Since Adam announced that he'd be taking an indefinite time off, fans are holding out hope to see him return for a match with the Unseen 17.

Meanwhile, Jericho continues to be absent from AEW programming, with rumors of him joining WWE growing with each passing day. His contract with Tony Khan's promotion is up at the end of the year and could make his WWE return at next year's Royal Rumble.
