John Cena breaks silence on WWE's abandoned The Rock-Travis Scott storyline

WWE star John Cena is coming off a huge retirement. The star wrestled his last match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13.

Cena's farewell tour started with a heel turn at Elimination Chamber. The Rock and Travis Scott showed up at the PLE and orchestrated the heel turn. The trio dished out a beatdown on Cody Rhodes, sending the WWE Universe into shock. However, in the absence of The Rock and Scott, the creative team abandoned the idea heading into SummerSlam and turned the Cenation Leader face again.

During a recent appearance on What Do You Wanna Talk About? with Cody Rhodes, Cena spoke about the possibilities if The Rock and Travis Scott had been around. However, the star noted that he would not have had the legendary rivalries with the likes of Randy Orton, CM Punk, Logan Paul, AJ Styles, and even Cody. Cena mentioned that he was happy with the stories he was able to tell with some of his peers in the ring.

"Let's walk down the hypothetical street. Let's say everyone who showed up at the Chamber is active until August. That robs us of John Cena-Randy Orton, that robs us of John Cena-CM Punk, John Cena-Ron Cena, John Cena-AJ Styles, John Cena-Logan Paul, me and you for the last one, mano a mano. So yes, the story that might have been might have had star power, and gravity, and who knows what, but what we got by just being like 'these are the pieces left'. What we got, for me personally, was beautiful."

John Cena thanked Cody Rhodes and WWE for the podcast

After his WWE retirement, John Cena finally had the chance to tell his story. The star took to social media to thank Cody Rhodes for setting up the conversation.

He stated that he had immense respect for Cody, and the Nightmare Factory in Atlanta, GA, was the best setting for the conversation.

During the podcast, the Cenation Leader spoke at length about his work, farewell tour, and also shared some interesting stories from his time on the road.
