CFB analyst Joel Klatt questions the Alabama Crimson Tide's chances of winning the national championship this season. After an impressive eight-game winning streak, Kalen DeBoer and his team suffered a disappointing 23-21 loss at home at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners last Saturday.
Following this loss, Alabama is ranked No.10 this week in the AP Top 25 rankings. According to Joel Klatt, Kalen DeBoer and his team still have a chance to make the 12-team playoffs despite this setback. However, he is doubtful about them going on to win the national championship.
"I still like Alabama," Klatt said as per Athlon Sports. "Listen, they did not play well and still had 400 yards of offense and still could have won that game against Oklahoma, who's a terrific team. So, 'Bama is still right there. ... If you are asking me if they are a contender for the playoff? Yes. Are they a contender for the national championship? No."•

Kalen DeBoer started his second year with the Crimson Tide with a disappointing loss to Florida State in the season opener. After a 9-4 campaign and a ReliaQuest Bowl loss last year, things were already looking grim for him.
However, the team made a comeback in Week 2, when they secured a 73-0 victory over the ULM Warhawks. They went on to win eight consecutive games before last Saturday's loss at home. They are now 8-2 (6-1 SEC).
Paul Finebaum issues a warning to Kalen DeBoer and Alabama
Paul Finebaum believes that the Crimson Tide's playoff hopes rely on the outcome of this year's Iron Bowl showdown against Auburn. He believes that it is a do-or-die situation for them.
"As far as Alabama is concerned, they hurt themselves badly because they played a quality team and lost by two points," Finebaum said as per On3. "Now, they have to do one thing. They must got to Auburn in a week from Saturday and win. "The last two times, Alabama, under Nick Saban, has gone to Auburn against weaker teams, if took four overtimes for the Crimson Tide to win that one four years ago. The last time it only took a 4th & 31 play by Jalen Milore to get (Crimson Tide) to the SEC Championship game."Kalen DeBoer and his team will face the Auburn Tigers (4-6, 1-6 SEC) on Nov. 29. This Saturday, they are scheduled to take on the FCS team, the Eastern Illinois Panthers, at 2 p.m. ET.
