The New York Jets will likely need a new starting running back in 2026.
Breece Hall is going to be a free agent, and much of the expectation centers around Hall ending up elsewhere.
That could mean the Jets dip into free agency for their own replacement for Hall.
Who might that be?
Well, Bleacher Report's Alex Kay has released a prediction that the solution will be Javonte Williams from the Cowboys. Kay projects the contract at three years and $20 million total.
"Williams bet on himself and now gets to hit free agency at an ideal time," Kay writes. "Despite finishing the campaign on the sidelines with a shoulder injury, the 25-year-old is set to earn a significant raise in 2026. Don't expect a long-term deal from the Cowboys, however, as the team is projected to be nearly $37 million over the cap when the new league year begins. Dallas won't have the flexibility to issue a large contract to Williams, but plenty of other teams could. The New York Jets make plenty of sense as a landing spot for the five-year veteran. Gang Green will likely be in the market for a Breece Hall replacement this spring and could replicate a good chunk of their star's production at a cheaper cost via Williams."

Williams looks much better this season than he did the past couple years in Denver. It seems he's finally over his injury troubles, knock on wood.
The Jets could likely get Williams as a cheaper price than Hall, like Kay writes. That has value for a team still with a lot of needs.
New York can't overlook RB entirely, especially on a team where QB might still be a question. Williams could be the right fit.
