When the New York Jets traded Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts, their cornerback room took a massive hit.
But in the wake of Gardner's departure, the Jets added a talent to their wide receiver room in Adonai Mitchell, who has played well serving as New York's No. 1 wideout in Garrett Wilson's absence.
Offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand raved about the young pass catcher at his Wednesday press conference.
Tanner Engstrand praises WR Adonai Mitchell
"You know a guy's kinda got it, he's understanding the offense...it's like it's there for him right now. And so that's been one of the coolest things to see. I mean he's been here for a little over a month or whatever. And those types of things are already hitting home with that player. It's just a credit to him," Engstrand said with a smile.
"And he's one of the first guys in here every day. We walk down, we're having a staff meeting, he's over there in the receiver's room. So I think it's a credit to him and the time that he's put in.
In five games with the Jets, Mitchell has hauled in 18 receptions for 236 yards and two touchdowns.
The former Texas standout is proving to be a compelling offensive piece for New York in 2026 and beyond.
