The New York Jets are 2-3 so far this season and No. 3 in the AFC East. They obviously have a tough division, with the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots ahead of them. That's what makes this Week 6 matchup against the Patriots so critical.
The Jets haven't been contenders for a long time. Head coach Aaron Glenn and the team want to get New York back into that winning category. Pulling off a huge upset of the Patriots would be one way to not only do that but also get the attention of the rest of the NFL.
So, the stakes are high. The Jets need to successfully do one thing to pull off an upset, according to an NFL analyst.
The New York Jets need to force Drake Maye into costly mistakes to have a chance against the New England Patriots
ESPN has released its Week 6 preview ahead of the weekend of games, and in it, reporter Rich Cimini says that for the Jets to win, they need "takeaways." Sacks help, too, but he says they'll need to do more than that.
"After sacking the Browns' Deshaun Watson eight times last week, what can the Jets do for an encore?" he asks in the piece, adding that coordinator Brian Duker joked about upping that to nine against the Patriots.
"To pull the upset, the Jets need takeaways, not sacks. The Jets have only one interception," Cimini states in the feature. "Their goal is to pressure QB Drake Maye into bad decisions, getting him to revert to his early-season funk -- when he threw six interceptions in the first three games."
Bad decisions are always a good thing when it's the other team making them. That's what the Jets hope to see against the Patriots in Week 6.
