Right on schedule, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ was unveiled in China today, and it comes with what the company says is the industry's first 185Hz under-display 'true full-screen' display, not to mention the already teased RGB liquid-cooling system.

It is of course powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, which is paired with the in-house RedCore R5 gaming chip. You can get up to 16GB of LPDDR5T RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage, and an 8,400 mAh battery with support for 120W wired and 80W wireless charging, plus bypass charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

The 6.85-inch 1216x2688 AMOLED screen reaches 1,900 nits in high brightness mode and 5,000 nits at its peak, and it's covered by Gorilla Glass 7i. It hides a ninth-generation 16MP under-display selfie camera developed with BOE, as well as an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and it has a 0.96mm bezel and a 96.3% screen-to-body ratio. On the back, there's a 50MP main camera with OIS and 8K video recording, and a 50MP ultrawide.

The device is 8.55mm thick and weighs 223g, it has Gorilla Glass 7i on the back too, and it's IP68/IP69-rated for dust and water resistance. It runs RedMagic OS 12 based on Android 17. It has dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an X-axis linear motor, 700Hz capacitive shoulder triggers, NFC, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, an IR blaster, and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with DisplayPort output.

The RGB lighting sits on the circular liquid-cooling module on the back, and it can react to what's happening in your game. The dual-loop liquid cooling surrounds the CPU and the battery, and its micro-pump is 85% more powerful than the one in the RedMagic 11 Pro+, while drawing as little as 20mW. It works alongside a fan that spins at up to 25,500 RPM and is IPX8-rated, using graphene thermal materials, a vapor chamber, and liquid metal, in what RedMagic calls a "five-layer" thermal setup.

The RedCore R5 chip handles ray tracing, 2K upscaling, and frame interpolation up to 185Hz in supported games. The upgraded PC Emulator also lets you sign in to Steam and play games from your PC library on the handset, though the company notes that compatibility varies from game to game.

The RedMagic 12 Pro+ comes in Nightfreeze, Subzero, and Skyfrost color options, with Skyfrost arriving later this year. Pricing is CNY 6,999 (about $980) for 12GB/256GB, CNY 7,999 ($1,120) for 16GB/512GB, and CNY 8,999 ($1,260) for 16GB/1TB. RedMagic also announced a forged carbon Golden Saga edition with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, whose other details it will share later.

The device will launch globally as the RedMagic 12 Pro, and RedMagic will share its global specs, pricing, and availability on November 3.
