Jets made baffling decision to decline Dallas Cowboys trade offer for Micah Parsons

The Green Bay Packers made headlines in late August when they acquired superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys. However, it nearly didn't happen that way.

Appearing on 880 ESPN New York, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones says that he called the New York Jets to see if they could get a deal done, but the Jets said no.

"Jerry Jones told Gary Myers on 880 ESPN New York that he called the Jets to see if they would be interested in trading for Micah Parsons, and he asked for Quinnen Williams and picks in return," Adam Schefter reports. "The Jets told Jones they didn’t have the resources to deal."

While Quinnen Williams is a great player in his own right, it's hard to argue that the Jets shouldn't have made this move, especially after seeing the impact Parsons has had on the Packers in their first two games. He just put up an astounding eight pressures on Thursday night against the Commanders, per PFF, and the Packers' defense looks like the best in football.

Had the Jets had Parsons in Week 1, perhaps they make a few more defensive plays to defeat the Steelers and are currently sitting with a 1-0 record.
