This offseason, there isn't a more appealing free agent quarterback for the New York Jets, or any team, than Kyler Murray.
He was released by the Arizona Cardinals, and thanks to his $36.8 million contract, he can easily sign a veteran minimum deal with a new team this offseason. For the Jets, he's their best free agent option at QB, and someone they should strongly pursue.
And fortunately, as Kevin Patra of NFL.com notes, the Jets can offer something to Murray that a team like the Minnesota Vikings, one of the more popular projected landing spots, cannot offer the dual-threat QB.
Jets can offer something Vikings cannot in Kyler Murray sweepstakes
"A QB could do much worse in this market," Patra writes of the Jets. "Unlike some other spots on this list, New York would also offer an unimpeded path to the starting gig in 2026."
While there are some interesting landing spots, like the Vikings, Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, and even the Los Angeles Rams, the Jets might be Murray's best choice.
The reason is simple: he would be the unquestioned starter the moment he signs with the team. The Vikings have J.J. McCarthy still involved, the Falcons have Michael Penix, and the Rams aren't going to bench Matthew Stafford for Murray.
Only the Dolphins, with Quinn Ewers unlikely to beat Murray for the starting job, could give Murray a clear path to being the Week 1 starter.

But, with the Jets' four top-44 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, and Breece Hall back on a franchise-tag and Garrett Wilson signed for a while, plus a solid offensive line, this is a good landing spot for Murray in free agency.
The Jets would give him a starting job right away, and likely pair him with a solid wide receiver room, offensive line, star running back, and young ascending tight end in Mason Taylor. Add a rookie wide receiver, and this Jets offense could be sneaky good in 2026.
While the Vikings might be playoff-ready and only a quarterback away, Murray wouldn't be guaranteed the starting job. If Murray want's stability in his starting job, the Jets might be his best landing spot this offseason.
