New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn met with the media today ahead of the team's Week 10 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
For the second consecutive game, Glenn declined to name his starting quarterback between Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor, leaving the beat reporters to press the first-year head coach heavily on it.
"That'll be between me and the player...I don't understand why you guys keep doing it *chuckles*, it's really getting hilarious too, because you guys keep asking the same question and I keep giving you the same answer," Glenn told reporters.
Jets' Aaron Glenn declines to name starting quarterback for Week 10
When asked by ESPN's Rich Cimini if it helps a quarterback's confidence when the coach comes out and names him the starter, Glenn bristled back.
"It helps the quarterback's confidence when the player and the coach talk and they know who the guy is. Not that I'm telling it to you guys. That has nothing to do with the player's confidence."
Glenn and the New York media have butt heads since the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator arrived with the Jets.
As they've struggled, the press has pushed harder and harder on Glenn, especially in his press conferences.
The first-year head coach has been learning on the job, and that includes his media savvy. If Glenn can continue to stack some wins and build some more credibility as a coach, then maybe some of the reporters will go easier on him in their exchanges.
