As the start of the 2026 NFL season gets closer, the excitement builds, especially for franchises that have hope for a comeback season. The New York Jets are definitely one of those franchises. This team has to come back from a rugged 2025-26 season, to say the least. We're talking a 3-14 record.
There were flashes of promise during Aaron Glenn's first season calling the shots for the Jets. He put the hammer down and tried to get this team into shape. But, there was only so much he could do in one year.
This coming season is make-or-break for Glenn. Not that he's out if there isn't a turnaround. But, he might start to feel the heat.
Jets and Aaron Glenn may regret draft selection
In a feature for Bleacher Report out on Friday, Moe Moton points out that the Jets may regret their "puzzling" second pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft: tight end Kenyon Sadiq. He calls tight end a "position that's typically tough for rookies transitioning to the pros."
Sadiq will also fall deep on the depth chart, behind Garrett Wilson, Mason Taylor, Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper Jr. The Jets are a team that absolutely needed to draft promising young talent that could start right away, so having someone like Sadiq who probably won't be available, or won't need to be available, in the next few months is a head-scratching thing.
"Also, keep in mind Sadiq underwent a procedure for hernia repair and didn't practice in the spring," Moton adds.
Will the Jets regret drafting Sadiq? Maybe. But, frankly, if they stick with him for the next few years, they could be happy about the selection down the road. This is a franchise that needs to see change now, though, not a few years from now.
