Jessica Pegula will take on Elena Rybakina in the first semifinal of the WTA Finals in Riyadh.

Pegula is still chasing her first Major title on tour. She reached the last four in New York, but couldn't make her mark against Aryna Sabalenka. The American is chasing her fourth title this year, after already claiming the honors in Austin, Charleston, and Bad Homburg.

Pegula has performed well in Riyadh so far. After a hard-fought win over Coco Gauff, she lost a close three-set match against Aryna Sabalenka. The fifth seed then defeated Jasmine Paolini in the last group-stage round, 6-2, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Elena Rybakina has had a good season so far. Apart from title-winning runs in Ningbo and Strasbourg, she reached the semifinals in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Washington, Montreal, Cincinnati, and Tokyo. The Kazakh also participated in the US Open, but lost to Marketa Vondrousova in the fourth round.

Rybakina has been excellent in Riyadh so far. She not only defeated Madison Keys and Amanda Anisimova but also overpowered Ekaterina Alexandrova in the final group-stage round. The seventh seed oufoxed Alexandrova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
