Jerry Jones should be ecstatic about this Cowboys projection

The Dallas Cowboys worked really hard during the offseason to beef up their defense, and it may pay off. Well, it better pay off, because between having an elite offense with quarterback Dak Prescott and star wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, if the defense can just hold some points off the board, this team could actually earn the title of "America's Team" again.

There are certainly positive vibes around the Cowboys' camp right now. Jerry Jones has beefed up this team's defense, and now, the moment has almost arrived to see if it works out in Dallas.

The Cowboys' defense could be a difference-maker

On Tuesday, Moe Moton of Bleacher Report released a feature with the "biggest surprises that could shake up" this upcoming season. He calls these the "biggest surprises that could change the complexion of the league and how we view certain players."

For the Cowboys, he has a great projection. He says their defense will go from worst to a top-10 scoring unit. This will happen under new coordinator Christian Parker, who most recently served as the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive backs coach and defensive pass game coordinator.

"If linebacker DeMarvion Overshown stays healthy," he states in the piece, "Dallas' front seven should be stout with Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark on the defensive line and free-agent acquisition Dee Winters alongside him."

He adds, "NFL fans enjoy poking fun at the Cowboys' lack of recent postseason success, but their defense won't be a laughing matter. Led by Parker, that unit could help lead the team to an NFC East division title."

So, the Cowboys' defense is shaping up to be no laughing matter in 2026.
