Jeremiah Smith's Ohio State suffered a 24-14 loss to Miami in the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday. With the loss, the Buckeyes were eliminated from the College Football Playoff, falling short of winning consecutive national titles. After the game, Smith was spotted interacting with the Hurricanes' players and was seemingly happy for them.

When Batstool Sports president Dave Portnoy caught a glimpse of Smith being close to the Miami players, he claimed that the Ohio State wideout regretted not committing to the Hurricanes instead.

"I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player regret where they went to college more in real time in my life. Wishes he was a Cane," Portnoy tweeted on Thursday.

On Monday, Smith was asked if he would have joined the Hurricanes if the program were more successful.

"Most likely, yeah," Smith said when asked if he would have joined the Hurricanes if they were involved in more big games like the CFP. "I probably would've ended up going to Miami if things were on the right track then and there. But I chose to stick with Ohio State."

Smith, a Miami native, recorded 157 yards and a touchdown on seven receptions against the Hurricanes on Wednesday in the CFP quarterfinals.

While Smith wasn't able to win back-to-back national titles at Ohio State, there has been some speculation around his future with the program after his recent comments about Miami.
