Jeremiah Smith has been a revelation for Ohio State since enrolling in the program in 2024. The star wideout helped the Buckeyes win the national title in his first year with the team. Now, the Buckeyes are looking to defend their national title and will face Miami in the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday as part of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

On Monday, Smith revealed that he was close to joining Miami instead of Ohio State, but snubbed the Hurricanes since the program was not enjoying any success in the past few seasons.

"Most likely, yeah," Smith said when asked if he would have joined the Hurricanes if they were involved in more big games like the CFP. "I probably would've ended up going to Miami if things were on the right track then and there. But I chose to stick with Ohio State."

Smith was a five-star recruit as a member of the Class of 2024. The former Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep talent was the No. 1 prospect in the state, the No. 1 wide receiver in the class, and the No. 1 overall prospect in the class.

Smith has lived up to the expectations at the collegiate level and has become a key member of Ohio State's offense in the past two seasons.

Nonetheless, Smith's recent comments on potentially joining Miami will only add more spice to Ohio State's clash against the No. 10-seeded Hurricanes.
