Jennifer Lopez is fully committed to her practice for the American Music Awards performance, and not even an injury can stop her.
The actress, who has been tirelessly working to nail her choreography and vocals, suffered a setback when an injury forced her to pause her rehearsal.
On Tuesday, May 13, Lopez shared that she had injured her nose, though she did not explain how it happened. In an Instagram photo, she seemed teary-eyed while holding an ice pack to her face, captioning it, "So...this happened."
In a follow-up selfie, Lopez showed the injury by removing the ice pack to reveal a red gash on the bridge of her nose. The “Waiting for Tonight” singer confirmed that the accident occurred during rehearsal for the AMAs.
The cut was deep enough that the songstress needed stitches, prompting her to seek medical care from facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond. "Thank you for stitching me up, Dr. Diamond," she captioned a photo of herself with the renowned doctor.

— Page Six (@PageSix) May 14, 2025Despite the serious injury, Lopez shared that she’s on the mend. The mother of two gave an update on her health in another Instagram post, saying, 'A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.'"
Though Lopez hasn’t revealed what she has planned for her big performance on May 26, she previously hosted the awards show in 2015, where she sang a medley of her biggest hits.
Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, expressed excitement for her return in a statement to Billboard last week, “Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick off celebration of summer.”
