Team India batter Jemimah Rodrigues had to depart for 24 courtesy of a brilliant catch by Laura Wolvaardt in the Women's World Cup 2025 Final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, November 2. The right-handed batter attempted a cover drive off Ayabonga Khaka's bowling, but was caught at short cover to bring South Africa back into the contest.

South Africa were able to put a stop to India's sublime start after making some crucial breakthroughs. With both openers back in the hut, the bowlers were able to apply some pressure on the middle order pair of Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur.

Rodrigues, despite spending some time at the crease, did not find rhythm, and looked rather sluggish during her innings. After facing three dot balls against Khaka in the 30th over, she ultimately perished while trying to play the cover drive.

The right-handed batter played the drive on the up, but could not get the desired elevation. She was also unable to find the gap as the ball traveled towards the South African skipper. Wolvaardt dove forwards, and was able to get her fingers underneath just in time to complete a legitimate catch. The third umpire checked the catch after a referral, and replays confirmed that the take was clean. Have a look at the dismissal right here:

Jemimrah Rodrigues scored 24 runs off 37 deliveries at a strike rate of 64.86, and a solitary boundary. Team India were reduced to 171-3 following the No.3 batter's dismissal in the final.
