Since making his big league debut in September 2023, catcher Austin Wells has established himself as an important part of the New York Yankees' lineup. The 26-year-old enjoyed a solid season in 2025, finishing with a .219 batting average, 21 home runs and 71 RBIs.
Along with his success on the diamond, it looks like Austin Wells and his family have plenty to be excited about off the field as well.
On Saturday, Austin and his partner, Caroline Nielson, took to Instagram to share a series of snaps announcing they were soon going to become parents for the first time.

Some of the images also featured the couple at Yankee stadium, holding a mini version of the iconic pinstripes with Wells' name on the back.
"our biggest blessing & sweetest surprise. we can’t wait to meet our lil bug 💕" the couple posted to InstagramNot much is known about when and how Austin and Caroline first crossed paths, as the pair have preferred to keep their relationship quite low-key.
Just like Austin Wells, Caroline Nielson is also quite the athlete. A passionate equestrian from a young age, Nielson pursued the sport at collegiate level during her time at Oklahoma State University.
Austin Wells could feature at the World Baseball Classic in 2026, but not for the nation most would expect
The World Baseball Classic is an event every baseball player dreams of winning, and it appears New York Yankees catcher Austin Wells may also feature at the showpiece event in 2026.
However, instead of playing for the United States, rumors have linked Wells to a stint with the Dominican Republic Baseball Team. Austin's mother, Michelle, is of Dominican descent, making him eligible to represent the Latin American nation.
As a result, reports claim the general manager of the Dominican Republic Baseball Team, Nelson Cruz, is actively trying to recruit the 26-year-old.
