The Bears might need to win in January, at the very least, to fully validate their blockbuster trade for Jeffery Simmons, but the early returns are looking strong.
Simmons looked like the dominant presence the Bears were hoping to get in the first half of his Chicago debut on Monday night, proving to be a disruptor against the Seahawks' offense.
The Bears traded two first-round picks to secure the former Titans star, a massive package that initially drew mixed reactions given the shaky track record of teams who gave up that type of haul for a defensive player.
Here's a look at how Simmons made an instant impact for the Bears.

Simmons got his hands around Sam Darnold for a sack in the first quarter of Monday night's game. The defensive tackle's strength was on full display, as he didn't get the best grip on the Seahawks quarterback but still brought him down.

Jeffery Simmons making his presence felt wow. The 3rds down Quick pressure showing quickness and strength to force the quick throw. Then he sniffed out the screen showing awareness. Unreal. #DaBears #Bears https://t.co/OQBwu8KH3A
— Clay Harbor (@clayharbs82) November 3, 2026The Bears held the Seahawks to just 59 yards of offense before the final drive of the first half, when Jaxon Smith-Njigba worked his magic and brought Seattle back within four. While Simmons can't be expected to fix everything, his presence seemed to change the dynamics for Chicago's defense right from the start.
