Jaylon Tyson dismisses any ill will toward LeBron James after his post-game comments

LeBron James made an emotional return to his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, on Wednesday. It was a night full of emotions, from wistful nostalgia to elation when the Cavaliers won their fifth straight game.

After the game concluded, Donovan Mitchell and Jaylon Tyson were present during the post-game interview. Tyson joked about Cleveland being Mitchell's city now, which was a slight dig at James' legacy with the Cavaliers.

Tyson has plenty of respect for James

It has been eight years since James last played for the Cavaliers, but he remains connected to the city. Of course, he grew up in Akron, Ohio, so there is a strong bond between him and the community.

At the same time, James brought the Cavs their first and only NBA championship back in 2016. While he had a blip in 2010 to 2014, James still has an everlasting legacy in Cleveland.

James laid down the foundation that the current Cavaliers players are enjoying now. Mitchell said the same, as he credits James for setting the tone for the current roster. Tyson did make a joke there, but it seems that it was all fun for him.

"There was no disrespect there. Bron is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. I was a Cavs fan growing up because of him. If I offended anyone, I’m sorry. I take personal responsibility. We want to do the same thing Bron did," Tyson said in his post-game media availability.

Moving forward, the Cavaliers still have lofty goals for themselves. They came into the 2025-26 season with high expectations, and they are finally delivering now.

They need to maintain the momentum, especially with some players out with injuries. Mitchell is leading the charge, and his teammates are ready to work hard alongside him.
