Jaylen Brown opens up on former Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau attending Celtics practice

One of the more shocking moves of the NBA offseason was the New York Knicks deciding to part ways with head coach Tom Thibodeau. They had just had their best season under Thibs, and made the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in a quarter century.

Despite this, New York decided to move on, and evantually hired former Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown as their new steward.

Since then, Thibodeau has been making the rounds in NBA training camps, most recently spending time with the Boston Celtics, a team the Knicks took down in the 2025 postseason.

Jaylen Brown shares Tom Thibodeau insights

After practice, star Jaylen Brown spoke to the media about Thibodeau's presence at Celtics practice.

"That was awesome having Thibs. Obviously, they eliminated us last year. So him being able to kind of give us some of the thoughts that he saw in that series and some of the stuff that they broke down in our personnel, or even our team, helps us grow and learn from that," said Brown via WEEI's Justin Turpin.

"To have Thibs here at our practice explaining some of the things that he saw that helped them beat us only helps me get better, only helps us get better. So I value that."

Thibodeau was captured on video talking with Boston coach Joe Mazzulla, presumably about what Brown spoke about.

The Celtics are preparing for a down year compared to their recent success, without the likes of Jayson Tatum in the lineup for at least 75% of the season.

With the help of Thibodeau, who was on Boston's staff when they won the 2008 NBA Finals, they may find a new wrinkle or two to implement throughout the regular season.
