Jaylen Brown just tied Larry Bird's all-time Celtics record with insane points streak

Jaylen Brown is on an absolutely historic run.

The Boston Celtics' superstar is scoring the ball so well of late that he just matched Larry Bird in the franchise record books.

Brown has now scored 30 points in nine consecutive games.

Bird previously was the only Celtics player to have done that, and now he and Brown are tied for the record, according to Celtics reporter Taylor Snow.

Brown's latest high-scoring output came with 37 points in 37 minutes on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

He shot 14-for-23 from the field, including 2-for-5 from 3-point range, to go with 7-for-10 from the foul line.

Brown added seven rebounds and four assists in a narrow loss.

The expectation heading into this season was that Brown would have to play like this at times with Jayson Tatum out. And right now, he's on a Tatum-like run, except to an extent that Tatum has never even done.

The Celtics play next on Tuesday in Utah against the Jazz. Brown will have a chance that night to break his tie with Bird and stand alone in this historic franchise's history.
