Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed has taken a big step toward making his return to the field.
Reed has been sidelined since he suffered a broken clavicle in Week 2 that required surgery. Reed also had surgery on his foot injury that was initially going to plague him the entire season.
On Friday, the Packers designated Reed to return from injured reserve, which cleared him to return to practice and opens his 21-day window to be activated.
If Reed isn't activated to the 53-man roster at the end of that window, he will remain on IR the rest of the season.
Jayden Reed return timeline
As The Athletic's Matt Schneidman pointed out, it's highly unlikely Reed will make it back on the field in Week 12 after one practice following two-plus months off.
Schneidman also thinks a Week 13 return is unlikely, as the Packers won't log an official practice in the lead up to the Thanksgiving game on a short week.
Instead, Schneidman thinks a Week 14 return is the most likely scenario for Reed.
"Highly doubt Reed would play after one practice following two and a half months off," Schneidman explained. "They don’t practice officially next week before the Thursday game, either. Week 14 vs. Chicago seems more likely, but we’ll see."
Whenever the Packers get Reed back, it'll be a huge boost, as the 25-year-old led the team in receiving yards in 2025.
Adding to that, Green Bay could use more help in the pass-catcher department following the season-ending injury to tight end Tucker Kraft.
The Packers will drop their final injury report of the week on Friday, so we'll get an exact answer on Reed's status then. However, we would expect him to be ruled out.
