Jay-Z has reportedly chosen himself to headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, according to multiple reports.
Puck was the first to report that Jay would be headlining, and Deadline also shared that industry insiders reported the same news.
The 2027 Super Bowl will be at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on February 14. The rap mogul will be performing two shows at the venue this week -- Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24.
Jay's Roc Nation has been the organizer behind the Super Bowl since 2019, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell extended their deal in 2024 for another five years.
The last Super Bowl that primarily featured hip-hop was Kendrick Lamar in 2025. Lamar made history with his performance, which is the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show, with 133.5 million viewers. The Compton native also made history as the first-ever solo hip-hop performer at the halftime show.
Before Lamar's solo performance, he was a part of the 2022 halftime show, which also was in Los Angeles and featured several hip-hop artists including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige.
While Jay has not confirmed the news, it would make sense that he would perform at the 2027 show given his most recent return to live performances. In May, Jay and The Roots headlined the Roots Picnic, and in July, he paid tribute to 30 years of Reasonable Doubt and 25 years of The Blueprint with three nights of shows at Yankee Stadium. His wife, Beyoncé, alongside Nas, Eminem, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Jeezy, Swizz Beatz, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Usher, and Teyana Taylor were special guests. He continued the 30 Tour overseas in London and Paris. He will be concluding the tour this week in Los Angeles.
Prior to rumors that Jay would be the headliner, it was reported that Justin Bieber and Harry Styles were among the top performers on the shortlist. Taylor Swift was also a rumored candidate, as was Miley Cyrus.
At this time, Roc Nation has not confirmed if Jay-Z will be the headliner for the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show.
