Jaxson Dart found himself down a prized accessory Sunday.
During the second half of the Giants’ eventual loss to the Vikings, the rookie quarterback lost his good-luck necklace, a heart-shaped chain, hurling the remnants to the sideline after completing a toss to wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson on a third-and-16.
Dart and the Giants’ offense were having an afternoon to forget, with the first-round pick throwing for less than 50 yards and one interception in the 16-13 defeat — the home team’s ninth straight defeat.
Big Blue’s lone touchdown came on defense, with safety Tyler Nubin recovering a fumble for the score in the second quarter.
Dart, 22, has been one of the few bright spots in a lost Giants season after taking over as QB1 for Russell Wilson in Week 4.
Entering Sunday’s game, the former Ole Miss star had thrown 13 touchdowns against four interceptions in 11 games. He also rushed for seven scores.
Before officially taking a snap in a Giants uniform, Dart explained the origins of his beloved heart chain, which had made on-field appearances this season.
“My little sister had it; it was hers,” Dart said in May. “It was before our bowl game, and as I was leaving the house over Christmas, a little break before the bowl game, just saw it in her room and I was like, ‘You know what, I kind of like it.’ Put it on, it’s kind of been good luck for me ever since.”
