Inter Miami have been on the receiving end of defeats in their last two matches. The Herons recently lost their unbeaten streak in Major League Soccer this season.
After remaining undefeated in their first eight league matches, Inter Miami lost 4-3 to FC Dallas on April 27 at Chase Stadium. Earlier, the Herons suffered a 2-0 defeat against Vancouver Whitecaps in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup semi-final.
Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi was not on the pitch against Vancouver in the first leg as a part of the Argentine icon's routine rest alongside other star players.
Now, Inter Miami will be heading to the second leg with a two-goal deficit against Vancouver on April 30 at Chase Stadium. Speaking ahead of the clash, head coach Javier Mascherano spoke confidently about his squad's chances of securing a spot in the final, putting fans' minds at ease.
What did Inter Miami boss say ahead of second leg clash of CONCACAF semi-final?
During the pre-match press conference, Mascherano expressed confidence in his players to turn things around against Vancouver Whitecaps. The Argentine manager recalled his playing days in Barcelona alongside Messi, Luis Suárez, and Sergio Busquets, where they pulled a massive comeback in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against PSG in 2017.

Drawing from that Mascherano claimed that 'absolutely everything' can happen in the sport, explaining his faith in Inter Miami to bag a win against Vancouver.
"That night I learned that nothing is impossible. In football, anything can happen, absolutely everything. I can transmit [those memories] as a coach, but I had at that time four teammates who shared that with me and lived it firsthand. I think that they, better than anyone, can transmit it to the rest," he said.
"Clearly the situation is different; no two games are the same. The contexts are totally different, but that's why I tell you I think that the series, and tomorrow's game in particular, will give us possibilities," Mascherano concluded.
Mascherano's players already added a new mark to Inter Miami's history by qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions Cup semi-final for the first time ever. Now, it remains to be seen if the Herons are able to make it to the final by defeating Vancouver Whitecaps this evening.
