Jason Bateman Details “Negotiations” With Wife Amanda Anka Before He Got Sober
Let’s hope Jason Bateman’s daughter doesn’t have any arrested development after her dad’s life lesson.
After all, the Zootopia 2 actor recalled the unique descriptions he used last year to explain the baby-making process to his 14-year-old daughter Maple.
“I did ask her how that's going [and] does she have any questions or is she all up to date,” Jason said on the Feb. 25 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, “‘cause I didn't want to tell her anything that I don't need to, you know.”
The 57-year-old added, “Maybe she sensed that this was an uncomfortable area for me. So, I think she played dumb and she's like, ‘Yeah, I'm not positive on a bunch of stuff.’”
The DTF St. Louis star—also dad to daughter Francesca, 19, with wife Amanda Anka—expected Maple to cut him off at some point to say, “I got that part.” However, the teenager let her dad walk through every single bird and bee.
“I did find myself getting to the portion of, um, when the release happens, right? Which is a necessary component,” he continued. “You don't want to be saying the word ‘ejaculate’ to your daughter, right? That's not a great term. There's a lot of description with that that I didn't want to get into.”
So, Jason took a different route and used a one-of-a-kind analogy.

“I said, ‘When the male member is inside of the woman's member, it's so lovely, there is so much love,’” the Arrested Development alum recalled, admitting he was “starting to sweat” during his re-telling. “To avoid that term, I said, ‘The penis just screams and it's the equivalent of the penis just yelling, “I love you!” And it yells the love into the woman and then you get you, baby.’”
Of course, Jason keeps his family life mostly out of the spotlight, so no word yet on if Maple is traumatized by the sex talk. However, the Juno star has previously spoken about how good of a job he believes he’s doing as a father.
"I guess you'd have to ask my kids what kind of a dad I am," he said to The Daily Telegraph in 2014. "I think I'm a good one. We certainly have a lot of fun together.”
