Celebrity Deaths: 2025’s Fallen Stars
James Ransone’s widow is putting on a brave face.
Days after the It Chapter Two star’s death at age 46, his wife Jamie McPhee shared a bittersweet message honoring his life.
“I told you I have loved you 1000 times before and I know I will love you again,” she said in a post on Instagram Dec. 21. “You told me—I need to be more like you and you need to be more like me—and you were so right.”
Alongside a photo of Ransone—who died Dec. 19, according to online records from the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office viewed by E! News—cradling McPhee’s pregnant baby bump, she closed the social media tribute with a nod to the couple’s two children.
“Thank you for giving me the greatest gifts—you, Jack and Violet,” she continued. “We are forever.”
Multiple stars expressed their condolences in the post’s comment section including Natasha Lyonne, whom Ransone acted alongside in an episode of Poker Face earlier this year.
“Love you with everything I got and holding our beloved brilliant peejo with grace gratitude and cosmic peace into this life and the next—family forever,” she wrote. “Beautiful jamie you are the best of us we love you.”
Julia Fox also gave her sympathies as she offered a message of support.
“Giving you the biggest virtual hug and I hope you are wrapped in warmth and love,” she shared. “We got your back with whatever you need.”
In addition to the It sequel, Ransone’s acting credits included roles in The Wire, Generation Kill and The Black Phone. But his part as Eddie Kaspbrakin in the Stephen King novel adaptation held particular weight, as it came right when he and McPhee were preparing to expand their family.
“My perception of getting It is not because it was like I arrived or I finally deserved it,” he told IndieWire in September 2019, “but because the universe was like, ‘Hey, man, you’re having a kid and that’s going to be expensive, so we’re going to set you up over here.’”
Ransone added, “This is for his future, not for mine.’”
