Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is stepping into a new lane off the field, backing the release of South West High, a scripted drama series set to arrive on Tubi on February 23, 2026. The show marks a major entry into original programming for Same Page Entertainment, the Detroit-based production company founded by NBA veteran Jalen Rose.
South West High centers on Nolan Thomas, a former pro basketball player who returns to his old high school—now struggling—to take over as principal. What follows is a story rooted in second chances, as Thomas works to rebuild a fractured system while navigating the pressures of leadership, community expectations, and personal sacrifice. The series blends hard realities with optimism, focusing on how education and mentorship can reshape lives in underserved communities.

The five-episode series will roll out weekly, with each installment running about an hour. While the storyline is fictional, its themes are grounded in real-life experiences tied to the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, a Detroit charter school founded in 2011.
Rose, who co-created the series and stars in the lead role, emphasized the personal connection behind the project. “This series is fiction, but the spirit behind it is very real,” he said in a statement. “I’ve had a front-row seat to the determination, resilience and ambition of young people in Detroit.” He added that the goal was to reflect stories of students “believing in a future full of possibility.”
The cast features a mix of television veterans and new faces, including Dawn Halfkenny, Towanda Braxton, Christina Cooper, and former NFL linebacker Stevie Baggs Jr. Social media personality Brooklyn “Queen” Oates and actor Don Brumfield Jr. round out the ensemble. Guest appearances include Anna Maria Horsford and Detroit rapper Sada Baby.
Behind the scenes, the series is a collaboration between Rose, Ty Mopkins, and filmmaker Dennis Reed II, who also directed and co-wrote the project. Music plays a key role in setting the tone, with Royce 5’9” overseeing the soundtrack alongside producer Denaun Porter.
