When Jalen Brunson signed his last extension with the New York Knicks – a four-year, $156.5 million deal inked in 2024, he technically sacrificed financially.
If he had waited another year, Brunson could have signed a five-year maximum deal worth up to $269 million deal. By signing the deal that he did, Brunson afforded the Knicks additional salary cap space to build the team around him.
When the time comes for him to sign his next extension with the Knicks, Brunson is looking for the organization to return the favor.
“A lot of people say I sacrificed for the team. One hundred percent I sacrificed for the team. But most importantly, I made sure my family and I are taken care of," Brunson said in an interview with Vanity Fair
“Obviously we’d love for them to do right by me. I think anyone would. I feel like I sacrificed.”
