Did USA-Canada hockey stars break up? Harvey, Watts TikTok rumors spice up gold medal game

1 hour ago 2

Team USA's gold medal hockey game against Canada doesn't need any extra reasons for high intensity.

There might be one, though, if the rumors swirling on social media starting on Tuesday night have any validity to them.

The rumors are that a U.S. star, Caroline Harvey, just broke up with a Canada player, Daryl Watts.

And well, yep, that would add a whole extra layer to the proceedings.

Did USA-Canada hockey stars break up?

The general suggestion on social media Tuesday night is that there was indeed a breakup.

Much of the rumor-making is based off of TikTok Live, though, which isn't available to be viewed after a broadcast ends.

The first rumor came from this post on X:

Wdym kk harvey and daryl watts broke up in the middle of the Olympics…😭😭😭

The comments then say that Harvey deleted all her photos with Watts, and that her teammate Laila Edwards referred to Harvey as single in a TikTok comment.

There have been more X posts going down this direction since:

Lesbian couple Daryl Watts and Caroline Harvey broke up before the gold medal game tomorrow. If Heated Rivalry fans could do anything other than whine about the Tkachuks for five minutes they’d be so interested in this

Harvey is a superstar defenseman for Team USA, leading the entire Olympics in points despite playing on the blue line.

Watts is a forward for Team Canada who could conceptually match up on the ice in key possessions in the offensive zone for the Caandians.

The United States got the better of Canada earlier in this tournament, 5-0, but the gold medal game will be the one everyone remembers.

It's not clear when the reported relationship may have ended, but either side of that 5-0 drubbing would be fascinating psychologically.

And on Thursday, a gold medal showdown will be added to the mix.
