It has been two seasons since Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo last played for the New York Knicks. However, he still has a strong connection to his former teammates, such as Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges. Of course, they all have a history together dating back to their days at Villanova University.
All of them have a tight-knit friendship, which is why they were heartbroken when they learned of DiVincenzo's Achilles tendon injury. It is one of the worst injuries an athlete can sustain, so Donte's friends all showed him some love.
Jalen Brunson sends his prayers for Donte DiVincenzo after Achilles injury
Brunson is close friends with DiVincenzo, as they always love interacting with each other. Whether as teammates or opponents, they have a strong bond that goes beyond basketball. That is rare amongst players nowadays, as they mostly stay within their teams most of the time.
DiVincenzo's injury is not only significant in the physical sense, but it can also be quite devastating mentally. It is one of the most difficult injuries to come back from, which is why friends like Brunson, Hart, and Bridges will be important in helping him deal with the toll he has to endure.

The Timberwolves are still up 3-1 in the Playoffs against the Denver Nuggets. They have a good chance of advancing into the second round, but that will be without DiVincenzo and Anthony Edwards, who also suffered an injury. He is significantly better off than DiVincenzo's injury, but it is still a big blow to Minnesota.
"Talked to him last night, he seemed in good spirits. He's formulating a plan, and I wish him nothing but the best. Sucks to see. After the game, that was like the first thing I heard... That's my brother. Tough to see, but he'll be back stronger," Brunson said about his reaction to DiVincenzo's injury.
While they are far apart after the trade to Minnesota, they are still close friends. It will be a challenging year ahead for DiVincenzo because he will most likely miss the 2026-27 season. Thankfully, he has a good support system around him that can help him get better.
