The New York Knicks have become contenders this season, largely thanks to Jalen Brunson's excellence. The Knicks guard is a tried-and-true superstar now, and he wants to keep proving his doubters wrong.
Back when he signed with the Knicks in 2022, many doubted the move, especially since his father, Rick, was already on the Knicks. Over the past few seasons, Brunson has continued to prove everyone wrong with his ascent to stardom.
Brunson continues to be motivated by his doubters
During his Dallas Mavericks days, Brunson was primarily a backup guard to Luka Doncic. Almost any player in the world would be a backup to Doncic if they played the same position.
While Brunson and Doncic could have thrived alongside each other, it was the right move for the former. Brunson has turned himself into a true superstar, who is the best player on a title contender.

Nowadays, Brunson has maintained his status as the Knicks' best player. However, he is still getting doubters from time to time. That is mostly due to most people's belief that a smaller guard can't be the key to winning a championship.
Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is often seen as the anomaly, but Brunson could be the change to that notion. He himself believes in himself to prove everyone wrong.
"Honestly, it was more about proving myself that I belong, rather than proving people wrong. I just wanted to prove that this is where I was supposed to be. No matter what happens, I'm not afraid to fail," Brunson said to Chris Haynes on NBA TV.
Brunson has certainly proved that he belongs because he is often considered one of the best players in the league. That is a special notion, and he is ready to keep going with the Knicks.
