The Jacksonville Jaguars have exceeded expectations so far in 2025, as the team is 5-3 and squarely in the playoff picture under first-year head coach Liam Coen.
With the Jaguars in playoff contention, it would make sense for general manager James Gladstone to explore making some moves at the trade deadline to bolster the roster. CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones revealed that a lot of eyes are on Jacksonville ahead of the November 4 deadline at 4 p.m. ET.
There are a lot of eyes on Jacksonville and first-year GM James Gladstone. The Jags are looking around the league, and many believe he [Gladstone] won't be afraid to send away more picks to acquire talent. Jacksonville is a bit of a wild card because sources see them going after a receiver, or defensive backfield or interior defensive line.
Jacksonville could definitely use some help in the secondary and should also consider adding depth to the interior of the defensive line. However, trading for a receiver should be their No.1 priorty.
The Jaguars receiver group isn't awful, but outside of Brian Thomas Jr., it leaves a lot to be desired. Additionally, Travis Hunter was placed on injured reserve last week due to a knee injury, so Coen's offense lacks reliable weapons right now.
Acquiring another pass-catcher for quarterback Trevor Lawrence would be a logical move from Jacksonville. There are a few receivers on the market who could be potential difference-makers, including Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints, Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders, and Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins.
Waddle is unlikely to be dealt, as Miami's asking price is incredibly high, and it wouldn't make sense to move the young playmaker with Tyreek Hill's expected departure from the Dolphins in the offseason.
However, Shaheed and Meyers are realistic options for the Jaguars. The Saints are willing to move off Shaheed, and the speedy receiver would be a dynamic target for Lawrence, as well as a fantastic complement to Thomas.
Though Shaheed would be an electric addition, the Saints are apparently looking for a third-round pick in return for the Weber State product, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Meyers is clearly unhappy with the Raiders, and a fresh start for both sides is needed. The 28-year-old will be a free agent after the season, but taking a risk on him would be a savvy move from the Jaguars.
Overall, Jacksonville could be the sneaky team at the deadline that makes a splash. Trading for a receiver to aid Lawrence and take the offense to the next level would be an exciting move, but it seems like the market is very steep.
