New ‘Thriller’ in theaters
Michael Jackson was familiar with the word “affair.” He played around and had a few. Therefore playing Michael Jackson is a family affair. Jaafar Jackson has the role of Uncle Mike in the new biopic “Michael.” His dad is Jermaine.
Jaafar: “It was challenging. I wanted to prove to myself, my family and the filmmakers that I could do this. I rehearsed for hours and hours until one single move was right.”
Working on it was “oy” and “ugh.” He said: “I actually danced until my feet would bleed or go numb.”
Cast includes Colman Domingo as tough love dad Joe, Nia Long as mother Katherine and Miles Teller as Jackson’s lawyer and manager. All moonwalks into theaters April 24.
Razzle & dazzle
OUR world: Kevin Hart to be roasted on Netflix May 10. More: Chicago’s Admiral Theatre is shooting its shot with Lauryn Efird. She’s “Pumpkin” from “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.” Her plan? To show her own pumpkins or boo boos. All in Chicago, next month. Great. Her assets and pumpkins must beat working.
Beauty supplies
ALSO, if VIP behinds looked thinner on the equally thin Oscars it’s because the stars didn’t want only their p.r. staffs to be big. More Ozempic than vodka was consumed. Assistants were dispatched as far as Zambia to locate supplies before the stuff ran out. Fat chance. Medics were cooking it in their kitchens.
Accidental win
WAIT. I forgot to include this in my Oscar coverage. Natalie Portman once revealed she’d “wet herself” at the event due to nerves. Long back she got listed for Best Supporting Actress. She played a stripper in “Closer” and was petrified as nominees were read out. Out of fear, she says, “I peed myself a little bit. The not winning part was my comfort.”
Conflicted times
QUESTION: What’s happening to us? Pay attention. Ninety years ago in Europe there was unemployment, hunger, panic. Like the start of what’s beginning here now.
Across the water, hate was stirring. Nations with their own miseries didn’t immediately deal with madman Hitler. More than 60 million human beings died. Bill O’Reilly reminds us that European governments first looked away.
Then evil grew. Europe saw what was happening. A war machine. The Third Reich. Dictator Hitler’s Gestapo violated human rights on a massive scale. He overlooked the Treaty of Versailles, which ended World War I.
Today evil beings are again working at it — this time to achieve nuclear murder.
