While Anthony Joshua ultimately knocked out Jake Paul in their Netflix boxing showdown, the way the fight unfolded has seemingly left a former UFC star baffled.
Joshua struggled to get into a rhythm and cut off the ring on his opponent in the earlier rounds. This led the former world champion to struggle to land clean punches, taking until the fifth round to get his offense going.
While 'AJ' ultimately knocked out Paul in the sixth round, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub couldn't help but feel there was something off with the whole bout. Reacting to the fight on social media, he said:
"That Jake Paul Anthony Joshua fight, huh? I don't know what to say, man. I haven't seen the reaction online. Something is up, yeah? Anthony Joshua didn't throw a single straight right hand for six rounds. He didn't cut off the ring. I'm trying to make sense. It's tough to pin a guy down when he is on his bike, and Jake was moving so much. I'm trying to be cool. It was weird, right? Something is up."Get the latest updates on One Championship Rankings at Sportskeeda and more
Schaub particularly called into question how Paul reacted to the knockout blow from Joshua, deeming it unusual:
"Even the knockdown where they called it. Anybody who has ever been concussed, I've been there. When he got knocked down, the first thing he did was look at his brother and say, 'That was a good one.' When you are concussed, you really don't have the brain power to do that."Check out Brendan Schaub's comments on Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua below:
Paul has long been accused by a few in the fighting community of potentially fixing fights, a claim he and his team have vehemently denied, even threatening legal consequences.
'The Problem Child' is expected to take a long layoff following the loss to Joshua, but has promised to make a stronger comeback in a cruiserweight setting.
