Lamine Yamal rebutted swirling rumors about his fitness, saying a lot of lies have been said about his injury after scoring for Barcelona during their 3-3 draw with Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The young winger has sat out a couple of games for Barcelona this season due to dealing with issues in his pubic area. However, there have been reports that Yamal is suffering from pubalgia, while adding that the condition is chronic and may have no permanent cure.

Yamal played the entirety of the game against Club Brugge and scored Barcelona’s second equalizer and set up the club’s third goal as Christos Tzolis flicked the Spaniard’s cross into his own net.

Speaking to reporters after the game against the Belgian side, Yamal said:

"I am good. I try not to read things. A lot has been said about my injury and that I was sad. It was all lies. I wanted to work hard to get back to this level, which is when I feel the best and have the most fun."

Manager Hansi Flick also spoke about Yamal’s fitness in the post-match press conference, saying:

"I am happy that Lamine is back on this level, but how I said also, we don't know what is tomorrow; we don't know what is next Sunday. The important thing is that he manages this situation he has now because it's not easy. He has to be focused on what he has to do, how he has to train and also the treatment. If he manages that the right way, hopefully it goes away, but it's not easy to say when with the situation."

Yamal has sat out five matches for Barcelona so far this season and has registered 10 goal contributions in 10 appearances across competitions.

Lamine Yamal identifies what Barcelona must improve after 3-3 draw with Club Brugge

Lamine Yamal didn’t hide his disappointment after they were held to a stalemate by Club Brugge in Belgium. He bemoaned the nature of the pitch and said his side needs to work on not conceding too many goals.

He told reporters:

“We are Barça and we always have to win. But we’re already thinking about the next league match. It’s a very difficult pitch. It’s hard to win when you concede three goals. That’s what we need to improve. I tried my best. It was a very quick play, and Fermín backheeled it to me. Well, I’m sad we couldn’t get the win. Let’s hope for next time.”

When asked about his Lionel Messi-esque goal, Yamal played down comparisons with the Argentine icon.
