Jerry Jones is hugely disappointed with the overall performance of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 season. The team is on the verge of missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season after suffering a 34-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.

Amid coaching changes during the offseason, the Cowboys made a host of notable additions to the team in a bid to get better and return to the playoffs. However, Jones noted on Sunday that the team has underachieved according to expectations, as playoff hopes are up in the air.

“We certainly didn't think we'd be here in this kind of shape with three games to go, and have to be behind the eight ball the way we are,” Jones said. “It's very disappointing. I'm really obviously very disappointed for our fans. I'm disappointed for these players.”

“I didn't expect that. I thought we could come out here and on both sides of the ball make a better accounting of ourselves. Minnesota did the best job out there on both sides of the ball.”

Jerry Jones added players that made a notable impact on the team this season, including wide receiver George Pickens, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and running back Javonte Williams. However, it wasn't enough to help the Cowboys amid struggles on defense.

Jerry Jones says the Cowboys need a miracle to make the playoffs

To make the playoffs as it stands, the Dallas Cowboys will need to win out while requiring the Philadelphia Eagles to lose out. Taking a look at the schedule, this is very unlikely to happen, and Jerry Jones says his team will need a miracle to secure a postseason berth.

“I don’t know how to describe a miracle,” Jones said. “I know it would take a very tight circumstance to get us in. We expected that. We thought we’d have to win out to have a little room, but not a lot. Now, of course, I know how to count. "We didn't expect this, I really thought we'd come out of here with a win, so I'm very disappointed. I thought we'd play better against Detroit, too. Really, when I look back at both games, it's a letdown. I know it is for our fans."

Jerry Jones’ long wait for the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl is set to continue with the current outlook of the playoff picture. The “American team” hasn't played for the Lombardi Trophy since winning it in 1995, and that streak doesn't seem like it will end this season.
