Bosnian-Canadian striking veteran Denis Puric is getting prepared to return on the global stage of martial arts on Nov. 16, but he has been equally focused on building the next generation of world champion hopefuls at his gym, Soi Dogs MMA & Fitness, in Ontario, Canada.
Puric, who faces former three-division K-1 champion Takeru Segawa in a flyweight kickboxing matchup at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri, detailed his passion for guiding the next legion of fighters during a recent exchange with ONE Championship.
He has been leading the Kids and Youth Muay Thai programs at his gym over the past couple of years. The response has been overwhelming, that plans for an expansion are already in the works.
"We’re actually looking to get a bigger facility. We’re kind of outgrowing it, so after this fight, it’s gonna be good. We’re looking to open the new facility in the New Year, and then we can offer more programs and keep inspiring," the 40-year-old fighter shared.Get the latest updates on One Championship Rankings at Sportskeeda and more
"We’re going to start an MMA program as well, because I have a bunch of guys who want to fight MMA. So, I’ve got to give them that opportunity."Per Denis Puric, the chance to teach the younger generation of warriors have allowed him to improve his game, too.
For now, he'll look to inspire his students off the mats and beyond the walls of Soi Dogs MMA & Fitness when he steps inside the ONE Circle in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday, Nov. 16.
Denis Puric believes Takeru lacks the tools needed to trouble him
In the same exchange with ONE, Denis Puric didn't seemed all that impressed by the Japanese megastar's feared kickboxing arsenal.
“He’s got the body toe stab that he always does, and then he does the calf kicks. But like I said, those are the only two things that he’s got that he can use against me.”Puric, of course, has faced top fighters for more than two decades in some of the biggest venues and promotions.
As such, the battle-tested veteran's remarks on 'Natural Born Krusher's' skill set shows that he is more than ready to shut down whatever his foe brings to the table when they trade leather inside the Ariake Arena at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri.
