It's a good thing Max Muncy started wearing glasses for the Dodgers

About a year ago, Max Muncy was hitting like a guy who couldn't see.

Turns out, that may have been exactly the case for the Los Angeles Dodgers slugger. He needed glasses.

And since putting on glasses midway through last season, Muncy has been a star.

These stats circulated social media on Tuesday via @BaseballWRLD_

"Max Muncy in 92 games since he started wearing glasses on 5/2/25:

  • .274/.397/.564
  • 26 HR
  • 58 BB | 73 Ks
  • .961 OPS
  • 164 wRC+

He’s legitimately just one of the best hitters in baseball right now"

That post also includes a chart showing OPS put up by each hitter in that time span.

Leading the league since the date Muncy started wearing glasses is Aaron Judge with a 1.080 OPS.

Judge is followed by Shohei Ohtani (1.012) and Nick Kurtz (.999).

Muncy is fourth in all of baseball in OPS since he began wearing glasses, at .961. He's ahead of Juan Soto, George Springer, Kyle Schwarber, Kyle Stowers, Shea Langeliers and Cal Raleigh

It's not a bad list to be on, especially ahead of some of those sluggers.

It's certainly an amusing thing that glasses may have been the solution. Clearly, it helps to see clearly. There's no way of knowing how long Muncy's vision had been lacking, but thanks to glasses, he now isn't lacking for anything in the batter's box.
