Josh Hutcherson went viral for his comments about Taylor Swift, which led him to being attacked online by her fans.
While Hutcherson was promoting his film I Love LA with his co-star Jordan Firstman, he denounced being a fan of the singer in an interview with i-D.
"I'm not a Swiftie. Very much not," Hutcherson said at the time while discussing the singer's music back in December 2025. "No shade, all respect, but definitely not."
"A little tiny shade. She can handle a little bit of shade," he added at the time.
Following his comments, fans did not take too kindly to the actor, who is known for his roles in films like The Hunger Games and Bridge to Terebithia, for not being a fan of her music. He is now speaking out again after he suffered some backlash from her loyal fan group.
"I got some heat because I did a photo shoot with Jordan, and Jordan asked me something about being a [Taylor Swift fan], and I was like, 'Oh no, I’m definitely not a Swiftie,'" he said to British GQ. "All of a sudden it garnered this, 'F--- him! He’s a monster! Destroy him! He’s short! He hates her because he’s short!"
He clarified that his comments were not about who she is as a person but how he is just not a fan of her music.
"It’s just like, whoa! I think [Taylor] is great. Her music is not my kind of music," he said. "That is why I don’t want to be online ... I don't need that energy."
Hutcherson shared that it has hurt his relationship with fans and how he does his job as an actor.
"It’s counterintuitive to my job, because if people know you more, you can’t disappear into characters," he told British GQ. "They see you as, 'Oh, that’s Josh.' You know what I mean? So, if you’re a f---ing meme, people know you for the meme."
While fans have spoken in defense of Swift, she has not spoken out about Hutcherson's previous comments or his clarification in his new interview. It does not come as a surprise as the singer is in the middle of wedding planning as she is expected to get married to Travis Kelce over the summer.
