Keeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been handed a much deserved recall to the Indian side for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be played in February-March. The southpaw was picked in the squad ahead of the struggling Shubman Gill despite the fact that the latter was the vice-captain of the team during the T20I series against South Africa at home.
Kishan was recalled on the back of his superb showing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26. Leading Jharkhand, he finished as the tournament's leading run-getter, smashing 517 runs in 10 innings at an average of 57.44 and a strike rate of 197.32. The southpaw's numbers included two hundreds and two fifties. He was Player of the Match for his 101 off just 49 balls in the final against Haryana.
Kishan has featured in 32 T20I matches so far. In this feature, we compare his stats with birthday boy Travis Head after the Aussie batter had also played the same number of matches.
