Isaac Seumalo contract extension could be priority for Steelers in 2025

The Pittsburgh Steelers have done a ton of maneuvering this offseason. General manager Omar Khan has been uncharacteristically aggressive this offseason, and as a result, expectations are high in Pittsburgh.

For example, Khan pulled off a trade for star wide receiver D.K. Metcalf earlier this offseason. Metcalf should finally give the team a true No. 1 receiver that it has been missing for years.

Then, the Steelers shipped another wide receiver, George Pickens, to the Cowboys. This move wasn't surprising considering the off-field concerns with Pickens and the addition of  Metcalf.

Aaron Rodgers was brought in to be the quarterback after the move was rumored for months, and tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Jalen Ramsey were both trade for in exchange for Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Finally, star edge-rusher T.J. Watt received a massive extension and is now the highest-paid edge-rusher in the league annually. Before the season begins, though, could the Steelers dish out one more extension?

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report recently identified the most important contract decision each team is facing. For the Steelers, Moton identified guard Isaac Seumalo, who is set to enter free agency after the 2025 season.

Regarding Seumalo, Moton offered the following:

Except for Seumalo, the Steelers have second- and third-year players along their starting offensive line. His experience is vital to this group, both in the short and long term.

This offseason, general manager Omar Khan has been aggressive with trades and acquisitions. He's also taken care of star edge-rusher T.J. Watt with a massive extension. Coming off his first Pro Bowl season, Seumalo has a strong case to make headlines with a new deal amid a busy offseason in Pittsburgh.

As Moton mentioned, Seumalo's experience is extremely important on this young offensive line. The guard is a value presence in the locker room and just earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2024.

Seumalo earned a solid 67.6 Pro Football Focus grade last season, which ranked 38th out of 136 qualified guards.

Before the 2023 season, Seumalo signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the Steelers. In 2025, Seumalo has a cap hit over $10 million and is set to test the market again next offseason.

Spotrac projects Seumalo to land a three-year deal worth $7.1 million annually on his next deal, which would be easy for the Steelers to squeeze into the payroll. Considering his impressive performances so far in the Steel City, the Steelers would be wise to keep him around.
