Is Xbox down? (October 29, 2025)

Many users have reported Xbox login failures, games not loading, and other connection issues today, on October 29, 2025. While there isn't any official confirmation about any problem related to the servers, there are several hints suggesting an outage.

I checked multiple sources and reports on social media about issues related to Xbox. Currently, it’s not clear if this is an Xbox-specific issue or connected to another outage that has been reported alongside.

Is the Xbox server not working due to AWS being down?

Earlier this month, on October 20, AWS suffered a major outage that disrupted several platforms worldwide. Services like Snapchat, PlayStation Network, and even games like Sea of Thieves and Helldivers 2 were affected due to AWS failure.

Once again, several users reported issues related to Xbox Network services. Those reports claimed to face problems like logging error or games failing to load. As of writing this article, I also tried to log into my Xbox App but failed. According to DownDetector, there’s been a noticeable spike in reports for both Xbox and AWS since 10:13 PM IST or 8:43 AM PT.

These overlapping times for both reports hint that the Xbox server failure could be due to an AWS outage. Moreover, Xbox isn't the only platform facing issues, as other platforms like Virtual Studio Team Services, Helldrivers 2, Sea of Thieves, and Rackspace Technology are having server outages.

As of now, AWS’s official status page hasn’t listed any outage and also Xbox didn't release a public statement confirming the situation. Possibly, the issue is still at an early stages of investigation. However, I’ll keep you updated on the situation and let you know if the situation worsens.
